What is Thermal Imaging?
Thermal imaging cameras work by detecting heat signatures and displaying them as a gradient scale. Lighter colors indicate areas that are hotter, and darker colors indicate cooler areas. Infrared comes directly from the image source, whereas visible light is the reflection of wavelengths of light off an object. This allows IR cameras to function in ways that traditional visible light cameras cannot.
How Can This Help in My Home Inspection?
Thermal imaging can help your inspector identify hidden issues that cannot be seen with the naked eye such as:
· Determine if insulation if lacking or deficient
· Determine if there are any air-leaks or abnormalities in heat flowing out of a building
· Determine if there is any moisture intrusion with insulation or other systems (when used with a moisture meter)
· Determine if electrical systems are overloaded or overheating
· Determine if there are leaks or defects with the roof
· Determine defects with the HVAC system
Radon is a natural, radioactive gas that you can't see or smell. Prolonged exposure to radon is known to cause lung cancer. Radon comes from the natural decay of uranium and radium found in nearly all rocks and soils. Radon moves up from the ground and into buildings through the openings that exist in floors or walls. We offer short term radon testing to determine if there are high radon levels in your home.
If your house was built before 1978, your home could have lead based paint. We offer lead testing to determine if lead is present in the paint in your home. With instant readings, know if there is lead present in your home at the time of the inspection.
We offer single system inspections for the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
